TLP 280 – THE AK KORNER Part 7: 922r Compliance

Welcome back to the Talking Lead AK Korner 12 part series presented by Pioneer Arms Corp. Part 7 Shwell is back to help Lefty host another information packed AK Korner episode. Our guests this week include CJ Johnson president of Pioneer Arms Corp USA and Andrew Breneman with Century Arms (Drew is an all around gun guru). We embark on discussing 922r compliance: Section 922r of US Code, Title 18 is a regulation which pertains to building or modifying a semiautomatic rifle or shotgun from imported parts. This law impacts importers, manufacturers, gunsmiths and consumers who assemble their own firearms.

  • (r) It shall be unlawful for any person to assemble from imported parts any semiautomatic rifle or any shotgun which is identical to any rifle or shotgun prohibited from importation under section 925(d)(3) of this chapteras not being particularly suitable for or readily adaptable to sporting purposes except that this subsection shall not apply to—
  • (1) the assembly of any such rifle or shotgun for sale or distribution by a licensed manufacturer to the United States or any department or agency thereof or to any State or any department, agency, or political subdivision thereof; or
  • (2) the assembly of any such rifle or shotgun for the purposes of testing or experimentation authorized by the Attorney General.

We also discuss go/no-go gauges, what they are for and how to use them. And we giveaway another Pioneer Arms Corp. AK-47!
